West Lowell
Net-zero home
Haverhill, MA
Completed November 2020
Jim Parker and I have been friends since grammar school. In 2006, I helped rebuild the Parkers’ barn located on property they purchased, which has since become Willow Spring Vineyards. We designed the barn with geothermal heating and cooling and solar to offset energy usage.
Their new home overlooks the vineyard and barn. Built on a south facing slope, it has a walkout basement with a heated slab, a full bath, and two bedrooms. The entry level has a farmer’s porch and deck overlooking the vineyard and a two-stall garage. The first floor has a master bedroom and bathroom, an open kitchen, dining and living rooms, and a three-season room with a fireplace attached.
